The third edition of Spirit of Romania will take place on Sunday, May 31st 2009 at The Carlu Concert Hall, a National Historic Site and an architectural masterpiece. 1200 spectators are expected to be part of an ultimate combination of decorative sophistication and startling musical rhythms performed by Tudor Gheorghe, musician, poet and actor. Since 1969, Tudor Gheorghe has been one of the most important and influential Romanian songwriters, an author whose entire work achieve great depths of understanding and meaning of the Romanian spirit. His songs have set an unmatched standard in their seriousness and range. Spirituality, religion, tradition, love – Tudor Gheorghe probes tirelessly the largest issues in human lives, always with an open heart and mind. As an actor and poet, he’s always been determined and succeeded to move beyond his grassroots, the Romanian folklore. As such, he became one of the most representative musicians of the Balkan region, the newest discovered cultural jewel of Europe.
